Google has introduced a new feature called Platform Properties in Search Console.
This feature lets creators and brands track how their social media and video posts perform in Google Search, even if they do not own a website.
Google announced this feature on July 7, 2026, and started rolling it out worldwide on July 29, 2026.
What Platform Properties Offers
For the first time, users can prove ownership of a social media account instead of a traditional website domain. At launch, the feature supports four major platforms:
1. Instagram
2. TikTok
3. X (formerly Twitter)
4. YouTube.
Once connected, Google provides three main reports:
Performance: Creators can see clicks, impressions, and other performance metrics. The data can also be filtered to identify the specific posts and search queries generating traffic.
Insights: The report provides an overview of recent traffic trends, top-performing posts, and how people discover an account through Google.
Achievements: Creators can monitor growth milestones, including thresholds based on Google Search clicks over the previous 28 days.
Why It Matters
Google’s new Platform Properties update gives marketers deep insights into how social and video content is discovered in search.
Marketers can now identify rising trends, track traffic spikes, and plan future content with precision. While it won’t change your rankings or replace native social analytics, it provides a crucial missing piece of your cross-platform visibility puzzle.
